Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card

Annual fee: $395

Current welcome offer

Earn 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening

My Take

The Capital One Venture X is one of the easiest cards to justify keeping long term — and that's exactly why I still have it.

Here's the math that makes it a no-brainer: the $395 annual fee is offset by a $300 annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Travel and 10,000 anniversary bonus miles worth $100 toward travel. That's $400 in annual value before you use a single other benefit — effectively making the card free to hold if you use those two perks.

But the benefit I value most isn't the credits or the miles. It's the Capital One Lounge access. I'll be honest — I didn't fully appreciate airport lounges until I experienced a Capital One Lounge for the first time. They are next level. Think fresh food, premium cocktails, spa services, showers, and a calm, beautiful space to decompress before a flight. If you travel even occasionally, having a retreat from the chaos of a busy airport is genuinely priceless.

One thing worth noting: Capital One changed their lounge guest policy in February 2026 — guests now require a $45 per visit fee ($25 for guests 17 and under, free for children under 2) unless you spend $75,000 on the card annually. This was a disappointing change for families, but for solo travelers or couples it doesn't significantly impact the value.

The earning structure is also beautifully simple — 2x miles on everything, with 5x on flights and 10x on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. For someone who doesn't want to manage a complicated card stack, the Venture X alone delivers strong value on every dollar spent.

I plan to keep this card as long as the perks equal the annual fee — which at the current benefit level, I expect to be a very long time.

Offer History

The current standard offer on the Capital One Venture X is 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months — worth $750 in travel. When the card first launched it featured an elevated offer of 100,000 miles after spending $10,000 in the first 6 months. That same elevated offer briefly returned in late 2025 for a limited time.

If you see the 100,000 mile offer return, it's worth acting on — the higher spend requirement is manageable for most people over 6 months and the additional 25,000 miles are worth $250 in travel value.

The standard 75,000 mile offer is still strong and worth acting on if you're ready to apply.
