The World of Hyatt Credit Card

Current welcome offer

Earn up to 60,000 Bonus Points — 30,000 Bonus Points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months, plus up to 30,000 more Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point in the first 6 months (on up to $15,000 spent).

My Take

My husband has held the World of Hyatt Credit Card for years — and it's one of those cards we consider a permanent fixture in our wallet. Not because of the welcome offer, but because of what it does for us year after year.

Here's the honest truth about this card: it's not one I recommend opening for the welcome offer. The offer structure is a bit unusual — part of it requires significant spending in the first 6 months to earn the full 60,000 points, and there are better cards for pure welcome offer value. But as a long-term keeper card for Hyatt loyalists, it's hard to beat.

The reason is simple: the annual free night certificate. Every year after your card anniversary you receive one free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt property. Category 4 properties can easily run $150-$250+ per night — meaning the free night alone more than covers the $95 annual fee. We use ours every single year without fail, and it never gets old.

Beyond the free night, this card is a powerful tool for earning Hyatt elite status. You receive 5 tier qualifying night credits every calendar year just for being a cardmember, plus 2 additional qualifying night credits for every $5,000 you spend on the card. For anyone chasing Explorist or Globalist status, this card dramatically accelerates the path to earning it through spending rather than stays alone.

Speaking of Globalist — if you've ever wondered what it's like to have Hyatt's top tier status, I wrote a full breakdown of how we earned it and what the benefits look like in real life. Check it out here if status is on your radar.

You also receive automatic Discoverist status just for holding the card — which comes with late checkout, preferred room selection, and bonus points on paid stays.

If you stay at Hyatt properties even two or three times a year, this card earns its keep effortlessly.

Offer History

The standard welcome offer on the World of Hyatt Credit Card is up to 60,000 Bonus Points structured as a two-part offer. Occasionally Chase runs elevated promotions featuring up to 5 free night awards instead of points — these are exceptional if you catch them, especially given that each free night is worth $150-$300+ depending on the property.

That said this is one of the few cards I recommend regardless of the current welcome offer — because the ongoing annual benefits are the real story here. The free night certificate and status credits deliver consistent value year after year that far outweighs the welcome offer in long-term impact.

This card is eligible for a new cardmember bonus if you have not held this card or received a bonus on it in the past 24 months.
