My Take
The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express isn't the flashiest card in the wallet — but it might be one of the smartest ones to hold onto.
My husband has this card and the way he got it is actually a great lesson in how to play this hobby well. He received a targeted 50,000 point offer in the mail and jumped on it. He also occasionally receives additional offers for another Blue Business Plus at 25,000 points with a $6,000 spend requirement. If you're paying attention to your mail and your Amex offers, this card can quietly generate a lot of points with very little effort.
Here's the thing most people don't talk about: if you ever decide to close your Amex Gold or Platinum to avoid the annual fee, your Membership Rewards® points disappear with it — unless you have another Amex card that earns Membership Rewards® still open. The Amex Blue Business Plus has no annual fee (See rates and fees), which makes it the perfect keeper card. It keeps your points alive at zero cost while you figure out your next move.
The earning structure is beautifully simple — 2x Membership Rewards® points on all eligible business purchases up to $50,000 per calendar year. No categories to track, no activations required. Just put your business spending on it and watch the points add up.
If you can earn an elevated offer, absolutely go for it. But even the standard 15,000 point offer is worth it for the reasons above.

Offer History
The standard public offer on the Amex Blue Business Plus is 15,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $3,000 in eligible purchases in the first 3 months. However targeted offers — often delivered by mail — can be significantly higher. We have seen targeted offers as high as 50,000 points.
Amex also occasionally sends existing cardholders offers to open an additional Blue Business Plus for 25,000 points with a $6,000 spend requirement. Keep an eye on your mail and your Amex account offers — this card has more earning potential than its standard offer suggests.
One important note: unlike some other Amex cards, the Blue Business Plus does not have lifetime language on the welcome offer, meaning you may be eligible to earn a bonus on this card more than once.
