My Take

This card is clearly Chase and IHG's answer to the premium hotel card tier that Marriott and Hyatt have occupied for years, and on paper it stacks up well — automatic Platinum Elite status alone is worth a lot if you stay at IHG properties with any regularity, since that tier normally takes real effort to earn. The anniversary free night and quarterly dining credits are the kind of benefits that offset the fee pretty directly as long as you're actually booking IHG stays throughout the year. Even if you're not an IHG regular, this one can still make sense: with a launch bonus this large, you can come out well ahead in year one alone, especially if you make a point of using the $300 in F&B credits, the anniversary free night, and a few of the smaller perks like DashPass or Instacart before deciding whether to keep the card past the first year. Just go in with a plan to actually use what's there rather than letting the credits expire unused, and this is a strong one to add to the lineup — whether you end up keeping it long-term as an IHG loyalist or treating it as a one-and-done for the bonus.
