Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card

Annual fee: $0

Current welcome offer

Earn a one-time $200 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.

My Take

I don't have this card myself, so take this as the honest consensus rather than firsthand experience: the Quicksilver is a solid no-fee cash back card, but where it really shines is as a starter card. Unlimited 1.5% cash back with no annual fee is a genuinely good deal on its own, but if someone asks me "I've never had a credit card before, what should I get to start building credit?" — this is the one I point them to.

It's the card I'd recommend to a college student or anyone just starting out. It's simple enough that you're not trying to optimize categories while you're still learning how credit works, and it's a good foundation to build a credit history on before you move up to cards with higher approval requirements. Once your score is strong enough to qualify for the more rewarding travel cards on this site, you've already got healthy credit habits in place.

Offer History

The Quicksilver's welcome bonus has been remarkably stable — it sat at $150 after $500/3 months for years before bumping to $200/$500/3 months back in October 2020, and it's held there ever since.

The one meaningful sweetener was a limited-time addition from August–December 2025, when Capital One tacked on a $100 credit toward Capital One Travel bookings during your first cardholder year on top of the usual $200. That extra credit is gone as of December 2025, but the core $200/$500/3-month offer remains in place.

If you're watching for the best time to apply, keep an eye out for Capital One Travel credit promotions layered on top of the standard bonus — that's historically been the main lever they pull on this card rather than raising the base cash amount.
