My Take
The Capital One Spark Cash is the card I point business owners to when they just want things simple. There's no bonus category spreadsheet to keep in your head and no quarterly activation to remember — you swipe, you earn 2% cash back, every time, on everything. For a family running a side business alongside the day job (which, let's be honest, describes a lot of us), that kind of simplicity is worth more than a few extra tenths of a percent somewhere else.
One perk I don't think gets enough credit: free employee cards. If your spouse, an assistant, or anyone else on the team is making purchases for the business, they earn the same unlimited 2% back on their card too, and you can set spend limits so you stay in control. It's an easy way to consolidate business spending onto rewards-earning cards instead of leaving cash back on the table.
Worth flagging before you apply: because Capital One reports this card to your personal credit, it does count toward Chase's 5/24 rule. If you're saving your 5/24 slots for a Chase business card, this isn't the one to open first — but if you're not chasing 5/24 status right now, the $0 intro annual fee (then $95) makes it an easy yes.
And here's the part I really love for anyone already in the Capital One ecosystem: if you also hold a card that earns Venture miles, like the Venture or Venture X, you can convert the cash back you earn on the Spark Cash into Venture miles instead of cashing it out. That opens the door to Capital One's transfer partners, so the "simple cash back" card can quietly turn into travel if that's what you'd rather do with it.

Offer History
The public offer on the Capital One Spark Cash has moved around over time, but $1,000 after $10,000 spend in the first 3 months is right in line with what we've typically seen — a solid mark to apply at if you're ready for a straightforward 2% cash back card.
