My Take
The United Quest Card sits in an interesting spot — it costs more than the Explorer Card, but it gives back in ways that are easy to actually use every year. The combination of an annual travel credit and an annual award-flight discount means the fee isn't just theoretical savings buried in fine print; it's money and miles you can put toward a trip you're already planning. The Card Bonus PQP is the piece I'd pay closest attention to: if you're even loosely chasing Premier status, getting a four-figure head start every year adds up fast over a few years of card membership. Where I'd pump the brakes is on anyone who isn't already flying United with some regularity — the free checked bags and priority boarding only pay off if you're checking a bag or boarding early in the first place, and this card's fee is a tougher pill to swallow without that United loyalty already in place. For a United-based family that's going to use the perks anyway, this is a reasonable step up from an entry-level United card; for someone dabbling in the United ecosystem, it's probably more card than you need.

Offer History
The United Quest Card's welcome offer typically centers on a bonus-mile amount in the tens of thousands, often paired with a Premier qualifying points (PQP) component, plus an extra bonus for adding an authorized user early on. Chase occasionally runs elevated versions of this offer, so it's worth checking the current bonus against what's historically been available before applying.
