Staying at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point With Kids: A Family Review!
This past summer we visited the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa; a family friendly, luxury resort in sunny Florida! I wanted something that would be relaxing for adults, while keeping the kids entertained and this definitely fit the bill. We stayed 3 nights on points and had a Guest of Honor attached to our reservation.
Location
The resort is in Southwest Florida on the Gulf side. We flew in and out of Southwest Florida International Airport with a relatively short drive of only approximately 25 minutes/15 miles each way. A car isn’t necessary to rent, because this resort has plenty to do and eat on property, but we rented a car because we like to venture off property anytime we travel.

The Property
Pulling up to the property lined with palm trees, I was immediately impressed and excited to see what was in store for us! We were greeted with a luxurious lobby and friendly front desk attendants. They gave my husband and I complimentary glasses of champagne and my children each got a free ticket to use at their snack and coffee shop, “Cool Beans Marketplace”. Before checking into our room, we scoped out the property and came across the prettiest water fountains leading to the back of the resort where all the amenities are located.

Room Types at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point
Two Queen Beds Partial Bayview Balcony
Our room had two queen beds and was spacious enough for our family. We were upgraded to a “Partial Bayview Balcony” with outside chairs and a table. The bathroom was a standard size and was fine for our needs. The shower was roomy with a detachable showerhead.

One King Bedroom Premium Bayview Suite with Sofa Bed
Kim stayed here recently as well and spent 2 nights in the King Bedroom Premium Bay View Suite. This is considered a standard suite making it eligible for a Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award. The layout includes one king bed inside its own bedroom, two full bathrooms, a living room with a sleeper sofa and additional couch as well as a dining area with a table for 6. It’s also equipped with two 65-inch HDTV’s, a wet bar, and six balconies!

Booking Details: Cash vs. Points
I stayed here on points by transferring Chase Ultimate Reward points directly to World of Hyatt. My favorite card for earning points to stay at places like this is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® card. Point prices vary depending on dates booked. This property is currently a Category 6 with points prices ranging from 21,000 to 29,000 points per night. This is a great deal because cash prices range from approximately $400.00 to over $1,000.00 a night for a standard room. Resort fees are $45.00 per day but are waived on points bookings.

With recently announced changes to the World of Hyatt award chart, points prices will vary even more. Soon Hyatt award nights will have 5 different price tiers. So if you are interested in a stay at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, I would book at the current prices before May when the changes go into effect.
Hyatt Globalist Benefits
Since I had a Guest of Honor attached to my reservation, I received Globalist benefits. Globalists receive free valet parking which saved us $35.00 a night (self-parking is $27.00 a night). Globalists also receive free breakfast for two adults and two children which is a huge savings for a family. Breakfast options include a full buffet or breakfast entrees from a set menu.
Our family chose the buffet each morning. They had a very big spread of breakfast foods including an omelet station, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, pastries, muffins, assorted breads, a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. It was delicious. It saved us $26 for each adult. Our children were also free. Children pay their age for the breakfast buffet if you’re not utilizing Globalist benefits. The restaurant that breakfast is served in is “Tanglewood”.
Globalists also receive an upgraded room and late checkout; both are based on availability. We were upgraded to a “view room” and received a 1:00 PM late checkout.

Dining Options
Corkscrew Poolside Bar & Grill
The resort has a variety of quick service and sit down restaurants and bars. Our first afternoon on the property we ordered fish tacos, loaded nachos, a tomato & mozzarella salad, and a few cocktails at the poolside restaurant, “Corkscrew Poolside Bar & Grill”. The restaurant also serves burgers, wraps, and sandwiches. There’s also a kids’ menu to order from. We also ate breakfast in “Tanglewood”. Our family ate off the buffet, but there is also a menu to order from. We like to venture off property, so our dinners were eaten at local restaurants.

Cool Beans Marketplace
This is the marketplace that my children were able to redeem their snack tickets. It’s located near the main lobby and has a variety of snacks, drinks, quick grab sandwiches, and made to order coffee. The resort offers a convenient cooler rental for a perfect beach day! For $20 you can reserve a cooler that they will pack for you with ice and purchased snacks and drinks of your choosing!

Tarpon Bay
Tarpon Bay, a seafood restaurant, offers fountain and lake views at the screened in porch restaurant. The restaurant is open for dinner only and provides an array of seafood items ranging from appetizers to signature main dishes. Tarpon Bay also has a raw bar consisting of ceviche and oysters.
Tanglewood- A Southern Kitchen
Tanglewood, as mentioned earlier, is where Globalists and Guests of Honor will eat their included breakfast. But Tanglewood is also open for lunch and dinner and offers takeout.

Mangroves Bar
Mangroves Bar offers a mix of beer, cocktails, wine, and appetizers. Enjoy a seat in the bar area watching sporting events or order appetizers to go. When Kim visited, her family ordered food to go from Mangroves Bar and ate at tables in the lobby.

Things To Do at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point
The activities on site are where this property really shines! Multiple pools, water slides, a lazy river, a rock-climbing wall, fire pits, a putting green, and lawn games mean there is something for everyone! There’s also a boat shuttle to take you to their private island!
Pools and Water Activities
The resort has a gorgeous waterfall pool as soon as you step outback that is perfect for adults and children. There’s also a family pool with two smaller water slides which makes for a fun spot for younger children. Additionally, adults can have their space in the adults only lap pool. After swimming laps, relax in the hot tub located just steps from the lap pool. However, the star of the property are the three bigger water slides connected to the lazy river! The resort provides a kiosk of pool towels that you’ll use your key card to get. Complimentary life jackets for young kids are also included!

Private Beach
The resort has a beautiful private beach just for guests which is accessed by a shuttle boat located at the back of the property. A wooden boardwalk takes you to the dock. Reservations are required, as there is limited space, so make sure to stop by the front desk or reserve online to secure your spot. The shuttle runs every day from morning until early afternoon, coming and going every hour. We thoroughly enjoyed the white sand and turquoise water! We spent the day swimming in the water and relaxing on lounge chairs under an umbrella! The chairs and umbrella were provided complimentary! The boat ride itself made for a nice treat as we were able to see dolphins swimming!

Outdoor Activities
The resort has lots of other fun activities if you’re looking for adventure or even to enjoy some quiet time! Hit some balls on the putting green or challenge yourself to a rock-climbing wall! Afterwards, relax in the hammocks or sit by the firepit and enjoy the weather! There’s also a variety of lawn games such as Corn Hole, Giant Jenga, and Connect Four!

Other Amenities
The resort fitness center has machines and free weights allowing you to get a good workout in! The 24-hour fitness center has treadmills with LCD TVs and bikes. If you’d rather relax, book a massage or facial at the resort spa, “Stillwater Spa”. The spa offers a variety of treatments to restore calm and focus.
If relaxing by the pool is more your style, daybeds and different types of cabanas can be reserved. They offer shaded comfort and exclusive amenities. You can enhance your experience by adding on food and beverage packages. Daybeds and cabanas can be reserved here: Cabana Reservations
Things To Do Nearby
If you have time, I recommend visiting Bonita Springs Public Beach, Lovers Key State Park, and Lighthouse Beach Park on Sanibel Island. I enjoyed swimming in the Gulf water and hunting for seashells.

The resort also offers complimentary service shuttle to Coconut Point Mall, one of the top shopping malls in the Fort Myers-Naples, area upon request.
Service & Staff
From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out and everything in between, the staff was excellent. They were very welcoming and friendly. Anytime we had a question or a request, they were eager to help. We had great service at the restaurants as well. The staff made sure we had everything we needed.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Tons of activities to keep the whole family entertained.
- Beautiful, modern, and clean resort.
- Excellent customer service.
- Bookable with points, which waives resort fees.
- Great Globalist benefits, which includes free valet parking and breakfast.

Final Thoughts: Would We Stay Again?
We would absolutely stay again. I think this resort is perfect for families with both younger and older children. The water slides and pools are so much fun and provide hours of entertainment. The property is beautifully designed. It has such a clean, modern, luxurious feel to it. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. And you can’t beat the resort’s private beach!
