Summer hasn’t looked exactly how I envisioned it. We had planned long before COVID on making a trip to Florida to see family but we thought for sure we would fly. And while we still could have flown, it just didn’t feel like the right thing yet, so we took on the great road trip of 2020. And now I’m so glad we did! Because instead of just a week visiting family, it turned into an east coast adventure.
After being home for what feels like FOREVER, I have been tempted to minimize family celebrations. But now that my son’s birthday is right around the corner I just didn’t want him to think that his day was any less special this year. Because it’s not! There will still be cake, there will still be balloons, and there will still be fun.
Ever since my husband and I started using points and miles to travel I have seen more and more that the perks of using credit cards are so much more than just the points you earn for using them. If you have any Chase branded credit cards you could be getting discounts on Disney gift cards (or any gift card for that matter) of up to 10% through a program called Chase Offers.
Does anyone else ever google, “What to wear in Disney World,” or “What to wear on an airplane,” before going on vacation?
I have literally searched, “Outfits to Wear to a Baseball Game” looking for inspiration. I know. I’m such a nerd. But I can’t be the only one because there are actual articles out there with those titles!
And now I’m writing one. Because I know someone else out there is googling, “What to wear to Disney World,” wanting to make sure they’re on the right track with their packing game.
I get gift cards all the time for things like eating out or going to the movies. Sometimes I get them from rebate apps like Fetch Rewards, sometimes I redeem credit card points for gift cards, and sometimes we’ll get them as gifts for birthdays or Christmas. But what does this have to do with how to save for a Disney vacation? Well, there is a strategy I’ve been using ever since we started saving for our Disney World vacation that has really given our travel budget a boost. And like most of the tips you’ll find on this blog, this strategy can be used to save for any big trip you have planned. I’m sure you’ve seen it all over social media. Whipped Coffee is everywhere. And if you’re fancy and in the know, you call it Dalgona Coffee. It’s apparently taking the quarantined world by storm and it’s easy to see why. As soon as I saw a gourmet looking coffee drink I could make at home and that looked better than something I could get from the Starbucks drive-thru, I knew I needed to try it.

They come from personal experience and from moms who have been to Disney with kids on repeat for years. We’re currently on day 14 of our CoronaVirus lockdown. Anyone know what day of the week it is? Cause I’ve been wearing the same pair of yoga pants for 3 days straight, our extra quarantine snacks are long gone and it’s possible that I may have forgotten how to drive a car. Seriously, I don’t even know where my keys are.
But I’m starting to think we might need to adjust to our new normal for longer than I had anticipated. Our schools here in PA just extended the closures until mid April, and chances are it could be longer than that. So some of the normal things we used to take for granted may need to… well, adapt. And that includes date night.
Well, I guess it’s not really news now. If you have a Disney World vacation planned anytime between now and April you have probably received the devastating news that Disney World is closing its gates beginning on March 16, 2020 until at least April 1, 2020.
As you start to plan your Disney vacation, you may be considering what options are available for travel within the “World.” If you’re staying at a Disney resort, you know that there is always the option to take Disney provided shuttle buses to and from the parks each day. And of course there’s always Uber and Lyft if you want a private ride. But another option to keep in mind is Disney’s own personal shuttle service with the adorably appointed name.
It’s no secret. A Disney vacation is expensive.
To be fair, Disney has an amazing product to offer, and they know it. And no matter how expensive it gets, people still flock there with wallets open wide and a smile on their face. And I’m right there with them wearing my Disney tee and Mickey ears. So as long as people are willing to pay the prices they charge we won’t be seeing any major drop in price any time soon.
