How to Maximize the Monthly Chase DoorDash Credit

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® offer plenty of perks, but one of the most overlooked is the DoorDash benefit. This includes a complimentary DashPass membership through 12/31/2027 as well as monthly DoorDash credits, giving you even more ways to save on dining and recoup the cost of your cards annual fee. In this post, we’ll cover how to activate your free DashPass membership, use your DoorDash credit effectively, and maximize this benefit to enjoy delicious food for less.

What Is the DoorDash Credit?

As a Chase cardholder, you receive DoorDash credits that can be applied to any eligible “non-restaurant” DoorDash order. This credit resets each month and doesn’t roll over, so it’s a use-it-or-lose-it benefit. The amount of your credit depends on the Chase card you have.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred has one monthly $10 credit, the Chase Sapphire Reserve has two monthly $10 credits ($20 total), and several other Chase co-branded cards have a quarterly $10 credit. All Chase Co-Brand credit cards are eligible except the Amazon Rewards Visa Card, Instacart Mastercard, and DoorDash Rewards Mastercard.

While $10 might not seem like much, it can cover delivery fees or pay for your lunch one day—and it pairs perfectly with the free DashPass membership.

How to Activate Your Free DashPass Membership

DashPass is DoorDash’s subscription service, offering $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders over $12. Here’s how to activate your free membership:

Doordash app in app store on iPhone
  1. Log in to Your DoorDash Account:
  2. Link Your Eligible Chase Credit Card:
    • Navigate to the “Payment” section of the app or website by clicking on “Me” in the bottom right corner of the app, then “Settings,” then “Payment.” Here you can add your eligible Chase card as your payment method.
  3. Activate DashPass:
    • Follow the prompts to enroll in DashPass. Your membership will be complimentary for at least 12 months as long as you keep your Chase card linked to your DoorDash account.
  4. Start Ordering:
    • Once activated, you’ll see reduced fees on eligible orders automatically.

Tips for Maximizing Your DoorDash Credit and DashPass

  1. Use Your $10 Credit Strategically:
    • Combine the credit with promotions or discounts for even greater savings.
  2. Try Pickup Orders:
    • DashPass benefits apply to eligible pickup orders, too. Use the $10 credit toward your purchase without worrying about delivery fees.
  3. Leverage Chase Offers:
    • Check your Chase Offers in the Chase app for DoorDash-related offers. Sometimes you can stack these with your credit and DashPass savings.

Key Details to Remember

  • $10 Credit Validity: The $10 credit resets at the start of each month. Be sure to use it before it expires.
  • DashPass Renewal: Your complimentary DashPass membership lasts through 12/31/2027 or for at least 12 months if you enroll less than 12 months before 12/31/2027. After that, you may need to pay for the service unless Chase extends the benefit.
  • Eligible Orders: DashPass perks apply only to participating restaurants and orders meeting the minimum subtotal of $12.

Where to Use Your Chase DoorDash Credit

The Chase DoorDash credits only work on “non-restaurant” purchases. So categories you should focus on are Grocery and Convenience. To quickly narrow down your search results and to save the most on extra fees, Tap the “Pickup” button on the home page of the app and then select “Grocery” or “Convenience.”

This should result in a list of locations where you can use your credit AND save on delivery fees.

Why This Benefit Adds Value to Your Chase Card

The DoorDash credit and DashPass membership make Chase credit cards even more valuable, especially if you remember to use the credits each month or quarter. Sapphire Reserve cardholders can save $240 each year, Sapphire Preferred cardholders can save $120 a year, and Chase co-branded cardholders can save $40 a year. Savings like this help significantly when it comes to justifying an annual fee.

Take a moment to activate your DashPass membership and start enjoying all the perks of your Chase card today. Happy dining!
